The legendary king of the heavy hammond of Deep Purple, great in rock, jazz and classic.
Tx for those deep and heavy sounds.
God bless you, Jon.

Sad loss of another legend!
Shades of Deep Purple was the first album I ever bought. I sold my dinner tickets (I had free dinners and we were on low income) and bought it off a mate.
I saw Purple Live several times and loved every gig. Jon could rock a Hammond for sure!
R.I.P. Jon Lord.

Yes, totally agree Bluey.
Here in Argentina they played several times, with a "Concert for group and Orchestra" included, similar when they played at the Royal Abert Hall (1969).
In their gigs here, his replacement recently, Don Airy, played pieces of tango "Adios Nonino" of our Astor Piazzola and others from Lalo Schifrin, argie too.
All the gigs were terrible, with that deep and heavy sound....what a sad loss !
When I see his pics into the Macine Head album playing the hammond, I almost cry.

Yes Martin,
I remember having this conversation with Ed Motta about "Machine Head".
That classic line up of Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Ian Gillan vocals, Jon Lord keyboards, Ian Paice drums and Roger Glover playing bass guitar touches my soul!

Machine Head is in the list of best albums ever which includes Dark Side Of The Moon, Abraxas, Jaco, Kind Of Blue, Talking Book, Catch A Fire, What's Going On, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, Brazilian Love Affair and other masterpieces.

Bluey, your words are mine, too, exept catch a fire....
Talking about Ed Motta, he plays here all the years, and last year played "Maybe Im of Leo" of Machine Head with only his voice: he made with his mouth the bass, drums, keys, guitar, at the same time, and perfect, very funny, in a gig of 3 hours and a half....
Yes, that sound of Ritchie, Jon and the rest of the band touches my soul, and my skin takes an aspect of a "chicken skin" (be patient with my english, haha).
Those ages, the 70'...

Martin, the English terminology is Goose bumps.
However I know what you mean about translations of these type of sayings. Our Italian drummer Francesco was told by a young musician in Italian that when he first heard Incognito's music it gave him this sensation.
Francesco turned to me and said, "Hey Bluey, this guys say to me your music give him the skin erection"!

Peace

What a great loss, they will never be the true Deep Purple again. That "mark" was unbeatable.

Here in my city the common name of adhesive tape is "scotch".
I had a girlfriend almost English mothertongue, she used to call it cellotape or something like that.
Once I asked:
"Darling do you have some scotch?"
She replied:
"Simone!!Why?? do you wanna get drunk at eight o'clock in the morning?"

Yes, I understand that about Francesco cause we are "Italians" here, we are a real salad mixed of spanians and italians, mainly (40 and 30%each other)and a 20 % of "others" (germans-french-english,etc) so we have lot of "argentinenglish" sentences and words, and a tipycal one is "chicken skin"(your goose bumps), where we translate literally each word, do you understand ? "Skin erection" could be ok here, but most erotically oriented, haha.
Im proud of my "teachers"in this forum, CJ, Jims, you and others, I learn a lot, but......Im not the best pupil

An old acquaintance of mine used to listen to this twice a day at least, for well over a year. He used to get up early in the morning to listen to it before college started. He kept a journal of his daily activities which we could see online. It went something like:

"6:15 Rise. The Lamb."
"6:30 W*nk."

He was that kind of bloke.
