I was listening to this Group and they impressed me with their New Album release Truly remarkable
it had a collective Fusion of Soul contemporary Jazz and vocals . The sounded very much like older
versions of a steely Dan release

Hey planetguru, I've been waiting for some other Cog to discover this hot Aussie band that is regularly played on the smoothlounge.com online stream. Here is my original posting from sometime last year:

I came across this new band from Australia called Firefly Soul that has really grabbed the space between my ears with a horn-spiced sound and great harmonized vocals that remind me of Steely Dan .

Their first album is called On the Edge and Beyond which delivers a unique tapestry of soul, groove and nu jazz. The sultry voice of Zac Sharman and well-written songs create a soulful romantic approach that will take you on a soulful journey. Their site plays full length versions from the new CD as soon as you arrive. Check out the title track and others. Here's the link:

Their latest 2010 release Taking Time Out is available on CD Baby for only $10. Cool value for smooth soulful grooves. You'll notice that down the left side of the page where they have "Recommended If You Like", they show Incognito, Sade and Steely Dan. How about that?
