Tonight with Mario & Trombone Shorty

Just back from the gig in Straubin Germany. we had the most awesome night. First wonderful Mario Biondi with his killer Italian band, then we took to the stage and had a ball. Then came the INCREDIBLE Trombone Shorty.
Troy and the band played one of the most amazing sets I've seen since D'Angelo (Voodoo Tour) & Earth Wind & Fire 1975 in London. They simply tore it up!!!
If you get the chance, go see this band and don't let anything stop you... You won't regret it.

I saw Trombone shorty's show at "JAZZ A VIENNE 2011" on TV last winter, but wasn't much convinced....I even must say I got bored rapidly, and fell asleep in front of my screen!

Don't know what Troy and the gang were like in 2011, but every member of Incognito and Mario Biondi's band stood with me gobsmacked and agreed that we had witnessed something special on that night.
Like I said, based on what I saw and heard last weekend... Don't miss it if you get the chance!

Yes Bluey, maybe Trombone Shorty wasn't at his best last year in Vienne (France), or I was too tired & not receptive when the show was broadcasted...
(For instance I saw Billy Hart with Stéphane Belmondo quintet in Clermont-Ferrand 2 years ago and was rather disappointed; Saw him again with the same band at Jazz à Sète last monday night, opening for the RH Factor, and Billy totally blew my mind!....)

(PS: also saw the Stanley Clarke /Stewart Copeland quartet the day before: OMG! Amazing gig!)
