Into 2006

Namaste.

Hope that 2006 has started well and that you are all in good health.

2005 was a crazy busy year! We began with the Hope Collective, the results of which I am proud to announce has raised much needed funds for various charities including, Tsunami Relief, Famine Relief in Sudan and Earth Quake Relief in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part. That said, this is only the beginning, we have much work to do!

I will be following with an official statement on the funds raised and their destinations in the next few weeks.

Looking back...

On Friday the 11th of February 2005 I presented INCOGNITO & THE UK FUNK ALL-STARS + DJ PREMIER at the Jazz Café in London. Along with Incognito musicians and vocalists the show featured special guests:
LINDA LEWIS, CAROL GRIMES, ROOT JACKSON (FBI), SAM KELLY (Cymande), SONNY AKPAN (The Funkees), HAMISH STUART (Average White Band), MICK EAVES (Gonzales) and NOEL McKOY. Spinning at the after-party was DJ PREMIER (Gangstarr / hip hop producer legend).

The concert was organised to promote album, Brothers On The Slide (The Story Of UK Funk 1969-1975), which I had helped compile in order that those who had influenced my career get the props that they deserve and to set the record straight. This was one of the most enjoyable nights of my musical career! I got to show some love and got a whole heaps in return! Please check out this album, it is full of good stuff and the liner notes tell the true story.

I collaborated with my dear friend and writing partner Ski Oakenfull and the fruits of our labour was his 2nd solo album "Rising Son". Co-produced by my son Daniel aka Venom, the album included contributions from Amp Fiddler and Chi Turner.

We recorded the 11th Incognito studio album which we aptly entitled 11. The album featured many names which you are familiar with, Maysa, Imaani, Tony Momrelle, Richard Bailey, Graham Harvey, Matt Cooper along with new members Francis Hylton on bass and guitarist Tony Remy. Our special guest was none other than the super talented Carleen Anderson who also joined us on our tour of Asia. Now that it has finally been released in the U.S.A. via Narada, we can officially declare the album available world-wide.

We did remixes for Shy FX, Steph Pockets, and the Incognito and Rice Artists Remixed album "Feed Your Soul" which has just been released in Japan.

We toured in Asia and Europe with the highlight being a series of wonderful Italian summer concerts in various sun drenched piatzas ending with a headlining night at the Montreux Jazz festival on the shores of lake Geneva.

And so we continue to take our music to the streets, and would you believe it... At long last are going going back to America! Upon our return from the States we will be hitting stages in Asia, Europe and the rest of the world throughout 2006. I will keep you informed of our future plans.

I am currently working on projects with Tony Remy, Ski, Noel McKoy and various Japanese artists and I will be recording a new Incognito album later this year.
More on these recordings on my next mailing.

Wishing you all much peace and love!
